'Things Do Change' > Background
The resource pack is made up of
10 Modules, a DVD,
supporting posters and other resources. It has
been carefully produced with the aim of
understanding and preventing violent extremism
amongst young people and encouraging tolerance and
community cohesion.
Calderdale is a multi-racial borough and it is a
place where diversity flourishes. Some members of
the community find it difficult to accept this for a
variety of reasons such as fear, prejudice,
stereotypes, profiling and ignorance.
Through the development of this resource pack we
have demonstrated that education can be a force for
good and through positive dialogue and educational
approach, it is possible to overcome the issues
facing the community in understanding the wider
cohesion agenda and preventing violent extremism.
Modules 6-10 have made use of material from the DVD
'Friends, Strangers, Citizens? Life in Britain post
7/7' produced by
South Asian Development Partnership as part of
the Masala BridgeBuilders series. We are grateful
for permission to use this. The original worksheets
are included with Modules 6-9.
